I Wish...

...that the weather was warm enough that I could be wearing my sandals...

...instead of like this, where all I want to do is hibernate inside....

Yes, the frosty white trees are beautiful to look at but after almost two weeks of severely cold weather here in Edmonton I'm tired of it. And to think that winter hasn't even officially begun. That's Canada in all its glory.

Until next time...

So What's Up With Me Lately?

Well, it seems I'm still not very good at keeping up with this blogging thing so I thought I'd do a bit of an update post.

First off, we decided to join the rest of the modern world and buy a smartphone. We've had a couple of phones in the past - our last phone had one of those slide out keyboards which I thought was totally amazing at the time but I'm pretty sure that that's no longer a thing to be proud of. We've never had a phone that could do the things that our new phone can do, and even though this is an older model (because it fit our budget) I'm thrilled to own it.

Richard was more or less dragged along into the decision to buy the iPhone and only had two questions about how to use it: 1) How do I make a phone call? and 2) How do I take a photo? (in case, god forbid, an accident happens while he's driving his school bus route and he needs to take photos as proof of something.)  I, on the other hand, am having so much fun learning all its features, setting up an Instagram account and playing lots of puzzle games!

I've also been knitting. Two pairs of socks...

and a Gallatin Scarf for myself...

and I just got some new yarn that is in the process of becoming mittens and a scarf for two lucky people...

Also, because I've always wanted to participate in this yearly tradition and apparently...

...there's been some full-on album preparation happening at Jen's place the past couple of Crafty Tuesdays, thanks to the inspiration found online from talented people such as Jamie Pate, Kim Jeffress and many others on Pinterest.

Finally, I just started physio this week to try and resolve a back issue that's plagued me for years. So, it's twice weekly visits to see the physiotherapist and exercises to do twice daily - but I wouldn't dream of sharing a photo of that!

And that's what's up with me.

Until next time...

Halloween...

It's October 31st and my Halloween baby is 25 today so I baked him a cake...

Long gone are those hectic Halloweens of simultaneously trying to get supper on the table for visiting in-laws, making sure homework was done, getting costumes on and face make-up done and doing my best to make sure that in the midst of all that we were having some sort of small celebration so that Chris would feel special and wouldn't feel like somehow his birthday was getting lost in all the chaos. My concern over it was for nothing - years later he said that Halloween was the best day of the year for him.

Now things are different. A simple cake for Chris to mark the day. And the focus of kids has shifted to the kids on Richard's school bus so we prepare treat bags to give to them...

... so that they feel special.

Happy Halloween!

Until next time...

And Three Years Later...

I'm back. Because Jen and I have been scrapping lately and she tells me that I really need to put my pages on my blog again. So here's the latest...

So the story is that sometimes Jen and I like to be totally annoying to Robert to try to get a reaction out of him - which he never gives us - except for eventually making an "L" with his finger and thumb on his forehead to signify what losers we are (in his opinion only, because as part of the page above states, Jen and I are actually super cool).  ;-)  In this instance we were riding the carousel at Fort Edmonton Park and every time we passed by Robert we pretended to be screaming in fear. About the fourth time around he finally indicated we were losers and ignored us. That was it. No other reaction, not even a smile - but Jen and I sure had a good laugh.

The sketch I used is from one of Christine Davidson's Creating with Sketches books.

Until next time...
